Yes it’s an actual job, and no, it hasn’t anything to do with spraying stuff on your cheese before selling. A cheese sprayer is someone who sprays the taste of cheese on popcorn or similar kind of foods. I can hear you thinking, well that’s important…?!
Well it actually is, because do you also get annoyed when you bought a 4 dollar bag of delicious looking popcorn on the outside, eventually turns out to taste bland and flavourless after opening it. It just doesn’t taste the way you have had expected. Well that’s because the cheese sprayer didn’t do their job properly.
Because it has to be done perfectly and have to hit every side of the popcorn it is done by hand and not only with a machine.
This job involves:
- Measuring specified quantities of cheese and oil into thermostatically controlled melting and mixing kettles.
- Dumping salt into the hopper of salt-sprinkling device.
- Starting a conveyor to admit popcorn to rotating drum.
- Pumping melted cheese through spray nozzle onto the popcorn.
- Placing a container in front of the drum to receive coated popcorn.
- Transferring the container to packing room.
It seems pretty easy but it is important that every nut, popcorn or other snack is completely covered with the right taste. So if you are an ambitious popcorn eater and you think you can do better… get moving and start spraying popcorn!
apprenticepower may not provide group training in this area but there are other jobs that are more interesting, like being an engineer for instance.
