Are you done with your apprenticeship and applying for a great job? Or are you currently looking for an apprenticeship and wondering what you need to do in your interview?
Either way imaging the company invites you for an interview and you jump into your closet looking for the right outfit, but you don’t know what exactly to wear. Weeks before the date you put all the necessary papers together but you don’t really know what the right papers are. You’ve practice your interview in front of the mirror for days now, but you don’t know what to practice. For those who can’t figure it out, here are some tips!
Firstly, make sure that you are prepared:
- Read about the company and decide why the company fits you.
- Think about why should this company hire you?
- Make sure you have ready your CV, a list of references, the ad you’ve applied on and possibly a portfolio.
Then if you’re having a face-to-face interview make sure you think about the following:
- Pay attention to your posture. People like an open posture so don’t cross your arms.
- Nerves are easy to hide by holding a cup of coffee or tea in your hands.
- Remember to breathe and if you’re feeling really nervous just take some big breaths.
- Actively listen to what they have to say and if you don’t understand their questions be sure to ask for clarification.
Make sure you make it to your interview on time. Aim to get there 15 minutes early as being early is never a bad thing when it comes to job interviews. Being late is one of the worst things you can do. If you do however find yourself running late for some unforeseeable reason, call your interviewer and let them know that you’re running late and advise a time they can expect you.
Finally, ensure you have a positive attitude on the day. You need to show your interviewer that you are enthusiastic and interested in working for them. This is how you can best give your potential employer a good impression. And last but not least; be relaxed and be yourself. Don’t push yourself, if you really like the job, the company will notice
Good Luck!
