Food engineering is a wide encompassing field of applied physical sciences which combines science, microbiology, and engineering education for food and related industries. Food engineers provide the technological knowledge that is essential to the production and commercialisation of food products and services.

By becoming a food engineering apprentice there are a multitude of employment opportunities available including food machinery, food packaging, instrumentation, ingredient manufacturing, health care fields, and government agencies. In last two decades, food engineering has been a very important research field due to vast and changing demand from consumers.

Food engineers are constantly coming up with new developments, innovations, and ideas to support the continual need for improvements in food safety, quality, and security. New materials and techniques must be developed at all times to ensure a high quality in safety, taste and appearance.

Obviously for this reason it is pertinent that the profession continues to seek out new employees for their ideas and ingenuity.
