HELP!!! to Reduce Stress

Apr 8, in Hints & Tips

Do you find yourself getting a little tense when it comes to situations where you’re being tested or have to prove yourself? Like on your first day at work of your apprenticeship or traineeship? Or when you’re being assessed on your skills development as part of your apprenticeship group training? Or when you have to sit a test or exam for TAFE? Well during any apprenticeship or traineeship you’re likely to be put in some stressful situations. So here are some tips from apprenticepower to reduce stress during those tense times.

Seven Stress Reduction Tips:

  1. Make sure you move enough. Exercising helps clear your head and focus on something else for a while.
  2. Do things you like. If you will do things you like your mind is focussed on something nice and that gives you a happy feeling.  If you’re happy and unstressed, this will give your mind time to reload and start fresh.
  3. A tip that goes with this is laughing. If you laugh your body will relax due to the positive chemicals in your body that are released while laughing.
  4. Take good care of yourself. Make sure you get enough sleep and eat healthily. If you are well rested you can handle more and healthy food will keep your brains and body fit and well motivated.
  5. Before you do all this you got to think about your stress. Sit down and think about the whole situation, your preparation and what can go wrong. Write down your worst case scenario and write down downsides and benefits you can get out of that. This will make sure you calm down more and next time you feel really stressed about the same situation, think about these points again so you will train your own body to calm down. Most of the times when you think about it, all the stress will look much lighter than before and you will even feel a little relieved already.
  6. Talk about it. If you talk about it with friends, family or colleagues you relieve stress as you’re getting it out of your system. Those people who you talk with can calm you down as well by giving advice and by giving their positive twist on the whole situation.
  7. Try to remember the last time you felt this kind of stress. How did you feel after it was all over? You were probably relieved right? And it wasn’t as bad after all? Well do you really think it is going to be no? No of course not, so no worries because you are going to be fine!
