Bricklaying is a great career in its own right but it can also easily provide an outlet to many other bright and potential professions for the future including in building and construction. One success story in particular highlights the advantages and opportunities available when you make the most of the opportunity of work experience.
Nick Bianco, now a famous and successful construction business owner, began work as an apprentice and now he owns the Adelaide United Soccer Club, has won honours such as an AM, a national finalist for the 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year, and is a major sponsor of Port Power. He was able to work his way up to the top of the ladder due to much dedication, hard work, and valuable work experience.
Bianco started out as a young brickie at age 14 in Australia and was smart in utilising all of his time because he had the dream and potential for success. As he worked he also applied for tenders in the building industry in the surrounding area.
Because of his eager attitude and commitment to his apprenticeship, he was able to succeed at a quick pace and now he has built an enterprise and runs Bianco Construction Supplies. The company supplies hardware, machinery, safety products, reinforcing and structural steel to the construction industry as well as providing a portable building hire service for the mining and construction industries and government utilities throughout Australia.
Nick has achieved all of the keys to success including mastering the art of treating staff with respect and supporting local charities and organisations, all beginning with an apprenticeship as a bricklayer. His success shows that bricklaying is a career path that young people, with the right attitude and determination can pursue, to go to the very top just like Nick Bianco.
