Undertaking an apprenticeship and furthering your education can help you build up a good base of know-how. This knowledge is then supplemented and reinforced by work experience. However, there is always more to develop. Even on the weekends!
But how are you going to do that? It is understandable that you won’t like the idea of working in the weekends. But there is another way and it is called self-knowledge. By developing your self-knowledge, you’ll know better what you want in life and where you stand for. You will be taken seriously at work and you can focus on the things you really want.
Another advantage is that you can work at your self-knowledge any time and anywhere. When you’re at home watching TV, on your way to work in the train or on the couch at your parents-in-law. Why don’t you use those daily moments of daydreaming in your own advance?
First things first; ask yourself who you are. It is good to think about that once in a while. Through the years you’ve been shaped to the person that you are right now. Make a list with keywords that describe your personality. Why do those keywords fit you? Think about the persons that you admire and ask yourself why you admire those persons. What excites you, what makes you happy?
Think about the choices you’ve made in life. Why did you made those decisions? It is important that you take responsibility for your own choices. You are the one who choose to do it the way you did. Would you do it the same way next time?
Are there patterns in your behaviour? It is important that you recognise your own patterns. If you do so, you can break with them. This prevents pitfalls. Do not hesitate and make a roadmap for your hoped-for development.
So keep on daydreaming!
