Jun 29, in Hints & Tips

If you live in the city and would like to get an apprenticeship job, then you are in luck as there are many opportunities for apprenticeships in the city. So whatever career you may want to embark in, odds are there are industries in the city where you can be an apprentice.

Here we look at the main apprenticeships in the city.

Types of Apprenticeships in the City

1. Business and Administration

This sector keeps many businesses not just in running condition but in earning condition as well. If you’re more of the money making type or management material, then pursuing a successful career in this sector starts by being an apprentice here.

2. Architecture, Planning and Construction

From houses to skyscrapers, many things go into building the modern structures of today. There are the architect’s designs, the engineer’s plans and even environmental planning. Taking an apprenticeship in this field means that you’ll not only learn the skills of the trade, you’ll also be part of the building process.

3. Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies

In this field, you can either make things work (engineering) or make things (manufacturing). This is a very broad field indeed and you’re sure to be part of a team here. This means you should be cooperative and know how to follow instructions; unless you’re the engineer, in which case, you should use your own initiative to solve the problems.

4. Information Technology

IT is a booming industry – there’s IT equipment all around us. There’s your computer and there’s your mp3 player. Being in the IT industry tends to either involve being a programmer or a technician. With IT being all around us, there are many opportunities for apprenticeships and traineeships in this sector, making it one of the fastest growing industries today.

5. Arts, Media and Publishing

Covering a field as diverse as book publishing, to fashion design, to games testing, this field offers a lot of opportunities for someone with a flair for the arts. The creative field has never been the easiest to break into, but an apprenticeship in this area will certainly help you put a foot in the door.
