We all know studying is not always fun. Yes, it is fun when you are done and you;re satisfied that you’ve absorbed all the necessary information. But when starting, it can be difficult to concentrate. During an apprenticeship it is necessary to improve your skills by increasing knowledge, as you would know with your TAFE studies.
There are many people who have the brains, but just don’t know how to use them most effectively. Well here are some tips to make the learning process more easy.
Concentration or attention is a very important part of your brain. The definition of concentration can be seen as the process of selective concentrating on one aspect of the environment while ignoring others. It involves careful listening and the amount of time that your brain is focussed on one specific subject.
Now there is a part of our brain that starts concentrating and another that will distract it. As we all know it is possible to develop your knowledge by learning and training, so this means it is also possible to improve your concentration skills if you train them.
Here are some simple tips to improve your concentration:
- Try to focus completely and block out other aspects
- Sleep well before studying
- Kick off positive and try to empty your brain from private issues
- If possible begin with the most simple and fun part of the study
- Block out all useless external influences
- Write downs keywords while listening to information
- Turn keywords into sentences you understand
- Go through notes that you have made
- Take a break after at least every hour
- Try to listen actively to only useful information and rest your brains when reading or listening to useless information
- Try to understand what you read, otherwise read it twice or write down keywords
- Compare absorbed information with own experiences as much as possible to make sure you will remember
