Life is really busy these days and sometimes it feels like you don’t know how to get all your stuff done in one week. You have your apprenticeship, training classes and also a private life to hold on to. Each day just seems to be too short and everything you do needs to be done quickly if you want to finish on time. Well it looks like it is time for some time management in your life!
Time Management is a way to implement everything you need to do in a certain amount of time. It is about all different kinds of activities, and these include planning, allocating, monitoring, organising, goal setting, delegation, analysis of time spent, scheduling, and prioritising.
For every job and training you need to know how to manage your time so you can be productive, efficient and still maintain a high quality of work. Especially if you are an apprentice at apprenticepower and are busy with studying and working at the same time. It is important to know how to deal with all those tasks and to keep up with everything if you really want to be a successful apprentice.
How to start
- Keep a record for several days documenting how much time is spent on studying, working, visiting with friends and family, working and daily things as eating and sleeping.
- Take a look at the list to see where you time is going and what things can be deleted from the list.
Once you know your priorities it will show how time is spent. After that start a daily or weekly planner and check it every day.
- Put down your trainings, apprenticeship schedule, assignment and other activities that need to be done.
- If you put your most difficult task at the beginning of the day, others will become easier.
- Be sure to schedule enough time to study for your apprenticeship.
- Schedule everything the way you like and what seems logical to you.
Now you will have a clear overview from how much time certain tasks will cost you. Once you get used to the scheduling part you eventually will know without even looking how much time every task will take you and from then on it will become easier to implement everything.
