Application Tips to be the Next MasterChef!

Sep 20, in Hints & Tips

So you think you can cook? Are you bored in your current profession? Do you love cooking in your free time? Is it your dream to run a restaurant, open a wine bar, or become a pastry chef? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then maybe you should become an apprentice chef. Or, even better, why not explore your cooking talents on the popular show, MasterChef!

After the Season 2 Finale, the competition opened up its application process for Season 3. So, now is the time to follow your heart and apply. The application process is open to anyone 18 years of age and over who is an Australian citizen or resident. The process begins with a series of rules that you should read thoroughly to make sure you are eligible before investing too much time applying.

The total process will take quite some time, so make sure you are serious before beginning. While steps one and two may seem routine, step three takes a little more effort. This is the section where you make an impression on the reader. Remember, be honest but you will need to find something unique about yourself to stand out in this section. They will learn about your back-story through your own words. Questions range from former jobs, hobbies that you have, your greatest life achievement, and where you would like to see yourself in 5 years. Total, there are around 30 questions, 20 of which need concise yet thoughtful answers. The other 10 have to do with your police record and whether or not you will really be comfortable on the show. You should commit about an hour of your time into these answers because they will be what set you apart from the other thousands of applicants.

Step 4 is very short, as long as you are not applying for other reality television shows. If you are, you have to list them all. Most likely, the casting directors will not want people who have already starred on reality television shows, so if you have, you may want to stop the application process here.

Similar to step 3, steps 5 and 6 delve into your personal life. In these sections, they seem to tug at your heart strings by asking questions about your cooking experience, first memories cooking, and why you want to be on Master Chef. Section 6 questions your cooking abilities along with questions about your personal traits. Again, these are sections you should not rush through. The casting group will be looking for personal and interesting answers that show personality. The show does not want boring characters, as you can see from the previous two seasons. Everyone has a story, whether they realise it or not. Hopefully, you and they will be able to find it through their in depth questionnaire in the application process.

In total, there are 85 questions in the survey/ application process before you can submit. If you are serious about the application, this could be the experience of a lifetime. Not only will the competition act as a small apprenticeship in itself, but it can lead to further experiences. MasterChef has proven to give individuals opportunities into top kitchens for apprenticeships Australia. So you think you can cook? Apply online and who knows, maybe we will be rooting for you in Season 3!
