What do we do?
Group Training is an arrangement where by Trainees and Apprentices are employed under a national training contract by an organisation who has all the employer responsibilities and manages the quality of their training, providing mentoring and support while they are placed at host training companies worksites. WSROC Group Apprentices employs and registers the Trainee or Apprentice, as required by the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001. As the employer of the Trainee or Apprentice, WSROC Group Apprentices will provide a total administration and personnel service relieving the Host of employer and contractual responsibilities under the national Training Contract. WSROC Group Apprentices identifies companies who agree to provide workplace training and development to meet the requirements of the Trainee or Apprentices’ formal training programme. When placed within the Host company’s business, hosts with a wage service, training–employment support service, and assists the Host in maintaining current industry knowledge and practice. Since 1981, the company has graduated in excess of 1100 well trained tradespeople for industry, and provides services throughout the Greater Sydney Region. WSROC Group Apprentices is controlled by a Board of Directors drawn from Local Government, Industry and the Education sector. It has established links with schools, TAFE Colleges, Industry and local communities, with an
enviable reputation in the the Trainee or Apprentice will respond directly to the supervision and instruction of their Host. The placement period is negotiated between the parties. In some cases, the Trainee or Apprentice may stay with the Host for the full period of training; in others, they may be rotated to another Host if problems arise, the Host’s capacity to train is limited, for budget purposes, or where the Host has irregular workloads. WSROC Group Apprentices recruits Trainees and Apprentices from school leavers, pre-vocational students and jobseekers. Applicants undergo an entrance test and interview to ensure they have the commitment and ability to do the job for which they have applied. Prospective trainees and
apprentices are selected and referred, to meet the specifications set by the Host, subject to availability. WSROC Group Apprentices will provide a personal support service through its Apprenticeship Support Managers. Our support staff have lower ratios of trainees and apprentices, which means higher levels of service. Typically, Apprenticeship Support Managers have 50 to 60, compared to 100 (and over) in other group training companies. Apprenticeship Support Managers conduct site visits every eight to twelve weeks. They will conduct extra site visits to address specific matters as necessary. WSROC Group Apprentices has a long history of working closely with Registered Training Organisations. This means that you can be confident our Trainees and Apprentices are receiving the best vocational training available. WSROC Group Apprentices has identified that having all apprentices attend institution based training on the same day, is disruptive to business flows. To this end, WSROC Apprenticeship Support Managers work with the Host and Registered Training Organisations to negotiate off-the-job training schedules to reduce disruption to work flows. All employment cost including superannuation, workers compensation, annual leave and leave loading, personal leave (sick leave etc), Public Holidays and TAFE (RTO) days are included in our billing rate. The unique thing about WSROC is that we only recover costs while our employee is at your worksite. WSROC Group Apprentices asks that you report to us weekly,by facs, with an authorised Time Sheet, outlining all hours worked, TAFE days and any other allowances including overtime payable. We have developed a specific timesheet which is easy to use. An Apprenticeship Support Manager will identify the correct procedure for completion of the Time Sheet. The Apprentice will be paid on your normal payday, keeping your administration processes and wage payments aligned. We invoice the Host Company on a weekly basis. WSROC Trainees and Apprentices work under the Host’s direct supervision and control, the Host Company must authorise all leave and supply a copy of the request for leave form, by facs, to WSROC Group Apprentices.
