General construction trainees learn how to produce quality carpentry work whilst undertaking residential or community projects. This traineeship takes 12 months to complete.
Duties May Include:
- select & prepare timber & manufactured board, mark out, cut & shape pieces using saws, chisels, planes, power tools & woodworking machines
- assemble sections to form articles
- fit hinges, locks, catches, drawers & shelves
- install completed products
- prepare drawings & read drawings
- basic concreting, bricklaying & demolition
Personal Requirements:
- interested in practical and manual work
- able to follow written instructions
- able to work to a high level of accuracy
- able to make mathematical calculations
- good communication skills
- good hand coordination
- free from allergies to dust
Education & Training:
- Minimum Year 10, good Maths & English
