General Construction Trainee

General construction trainees learn how to produce quality carpentry work whilst undertaking residential or community projects. This traineeship takes 12 months to complete.

Duties May Include:

  • select & prepare timber & manufactured board, mark out, cut & shape pieces using saws, chisels, planes, power tools & woodworking machines
  • assemble sections to form articles
  • fit hinges, locks, catches, drawers & shelves
  • install completed products
  • prepare drawings & read drawings
  • basic concreting, bricklaying & demolition

Personal Requirements:

  • interested in practical and manual work
  • able to follow written instructions
  • able to work to a high level of accuracy
  • able to make mathematical calculations
  • good communication skills
  • good hand coordination
  • free from allergies to dust

Education & Training:

  • Minimum Year 10, good Maths & English
