Cooks work within the kitchens of cafes, restaurants, hotels, clubs and similar enterprises and perform roles including preparing food, catering a range of dishes, planning menus and controlling costs. This apprenticeship takes 4 years to complete.

Duties May Include:

  • Organise and prepare food.
  • Prepare food.
  • Use basic cooking methods.
  • Receive and store kitchen supplies.
  • Implement food safety procedures.
  • Receive and store supplies
  • Plan and control menu based catering.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen premises.

Personal Requirements:

  • A high level of personal cleanliness
  • Good communication skills
  • Punctuality
  • Ability to plan your time and work under Pressure

Education & Training:

  • Minimum Year 10
